Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an Instructional Assistant to support students with IEPs under the direction of a special education teacher. You will assist in classrooms, prepare instructional materials, and administer accommodations.

The role includes bus supervision, lunch/recess support, basic healthcare tasks, and clerical duties, collaborating to implement each student’s IEP. A High School diploma and First Aid/CPR/AED certification are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of childhood growth and development and behavior management; clerical procedures.
• Ability to supervise children in the absence of the teacher and follow instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication with students, staff and families.
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality per policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom duties including grading, materials prep, and accommodations.
• Support students during instructional activities (one-on-one, small groups, whole class).
• Assist students onto/off bus and supervise lunch/recess per IEP.
• Provide clerical support: typing, filing, records, supplies.
• Implement IEP accommodations and work with related service providers.
