Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools in Virginia seeks an Instructional Assistant to support students with IEPs under the direction of a special education teacher. You will assist with classroom duties, prepare instructional materials, record grades, and help administer testing accommodations.

You will assist students one-on-one or in small groups, help students onto and off the bus, supervise during lunch and recess, and implement IEP accommodations and related supports.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of childhood growth and development and behavior management.
• Ability to supervise children and follow oral and written instructions.
• Clerical skills such as typing, filing, and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom duties and instructional accommodations.
• Support students one-on-one and in small groups during activities.
• Assist with transporting students and supervising meals and recess as indicated in the IEP.
• Implement accommodations in the student’s IEP and document progress.
