Job summary

The position requires a High School diploma, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and completion of required background checks.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of childhood growth and development, behavior management techniques and clerical procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise children in the absence of the special education teacher; to perform basic clerical tasks, communicate effectively orally and in writing and follow oral and written instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally with students, staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education teachers with classroom duties, including recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Supports students during instructional activities (one-on-one, small groups, whole group) as directed by the teacher.
• Documents student progress as directed by the teacher.
• Supervises students on the school bus and during meals and recess.
• Assists with implementing student IEP accommodations and related services as directed.
