Job summary

Michigan City Area Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist teachers in implementing Individual Education Programs for students with disabilities. The role supports instruction across special and general education settings within the school and community, providing educational, mobility, and behavioral support as needed.

The position is school-year, 5.75 hours per day, reports to the building principal, and requires a high school diploma with 60 college credits or Para Pro exam.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 60 college credit hours or passing score on the Para Pro Exam.
• Previous experience working with students.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff.
• Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents.
• Support the teacher and related staff who provide service for the student.
• Communicate concerns to the administrator or assigned teacher in a timely and professional manner.
• Attend in-services upon notification, when provided during a school day.
