Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) seeks a paraprofessional educator to support the instructional program in classrooms, including special needs students, within GCPS facilities in Georgia. The role involves supervising, assisting with instruction, and helping implement IEP plans in both regular and special education settings.

Under supervision, you will reinforce IEP objectives, assist with data collection, and participate in IEP meetings to support student progress and safety.

Qualifications

• Licensed Paraprofessional Educator certificate required by PSC.
• HS Diploma or GED with approved Parapro assessments or PSC-accepted college credits.
• Experience in licensed child care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising, caring for, and instructing special needs students.
• Adapt activities and reinforce IEP goals as directed.
• Administer basic first aid and medical assistance as instructed.
• Support teachers with testing, homework, and makeup work.
• Assist students with hygiene and daily living needs.
• Attend regular meetings with teachers to review progress.
• Assist with data collection and record keeping for IEPs.
• Provide instruction in small groups and during activities.
• Respond to emergencies and apply de-escalation techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
