Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED and required assessments or PSC-approved equivalent.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college or university.
• Experience in a licensed child care environment preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support for special needs students within regular and special education settings, and assist in implementing IEP plans.
• Adapt activities and materials to reinforce IEP objectives and enable participation.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as directed by health professionals.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile students with grooming and daily needs as assigned.
• Collaborate with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Implement data collection and follow behavioral plans under supervision.
• Monitor safety and behavior during various school activities and times.
• Perform record-keeping, attendance, and daily logs to support instructional needs.
• Provide instruction in small and large groups to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Assist with hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, and bus duty as assigned and ensure conduct.
