Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to support instructional programs and supervise students with disabilities in general and special education settings. The role involves assisting with IEP plans, behavior monitoring, and collaboration with teachers.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, administering basic first aid, handling tests and daily tasks, and aiding in providing a safe, inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia PSC is required.
• HS diploma or GED and passed Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro (or PSC-approved college hours).
• Experience in a licensed child care environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional program and supervise/supervise special needs students in various settings.
• Adapt activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals and participation.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as directed.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assist students with daily needs and personal hygiene as needed.
• Regularly confer with teachers on student progress and IEP implementation.
• Monitor safety in classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Maintain records and assist with data collection and daily logs.
• Provide instruction in small and large groups to reinforce objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis de-escalation procedures.
