Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is hiring a paraprofessional educator to support students with special needs across classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEP plans, monitor behavior, and help with instructional activities under teacher supervision.

The position requires a PSC-certified paraprofessional, a high school diploma or GED with Praxis/GACE Parapro, or 60 semester/90 quarter hours from a PSC-approved college, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Educator certificate required by PSC.
• HS Diploma or GED with Praxis Parapro or GACE Parapro required.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from PSC-approved college can substitute.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional program in assigned classroom for special needs students.
• Assist in implementing IEP plans and monitor student behavior.
• Adapt activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals.
• Administer first aid and basic medical assistance as directed.
• Administer tests and homework to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile students with personal care needs.
• Grooming, community access, and daily living support as assigned.
• Confer with teachers on student progress and IEP objectives.
• Monitor safety during classroom and non-classroom activities.
• Maintain records and assist with attendance and data collection.
• Provide instruction in small and large group settings.
• Respond to emergencies and apply de-escalation techniques as trained.
• Assist with monitoring duties; ensure appropriate student conduct.
