Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional Educator to support instructional programs and assist in supervising and teaching students with disabilities across regular and special education settings.

Qualifications include Georgia PSC Paraprofessional certification, a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent), and/or PSC-approved college credits; duties include implementing IEPs, data collection, and daily care tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with office and media equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the instructional program in an assigned classroom for assisting in supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in regular and special education settings.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials to reinforce IEP goals.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Assist students with grooming, community accessibility, and other daily needs.
• Confer with teachers on progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Implement and collect data under supervision of the assigned teacher and IEP plans.
• Monitor special education students in classroom, field trips, and other activities to ensure safety.
• Record keeping and support duties including data collection, attendance, and daily logs.
• Provide instruction to students in small and large groups to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Respond to emergencies and apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Support hallway, lunchroom, restrooms, and bus duty while ensuring appropriate student conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
