Job summary

New Story Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to work with students aged 5–21 who have autism and developmental challenges. You will support teachers in pursuing individualized goals and fostering a calm, structured learning environment.

The role emphasizes direct student support, collaboration with staff, data collection, and adherence to IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans. Applicants should be at least 21 and have a brief experience with disabilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
