Job summary

New Story Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to work with students ages 5–21 with autism and emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. You will work alongside teachers to support academic, behavioral, and daily living goals in a structured, supportive learning environment.

The role emphasizes direct support, patience, and encouragement, implementing IEPs under teacher guidance and helping students with transitions, self-care, and progress data collection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
