Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to provide one-on-one assistance to a student with a disability during the school day. The position supports a certificated teacher with instructional and personal care tasks as needed while promoting a safe learning environment.

Requirements include completing the General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of FCS training within set timelines. 28 clock hours of PD are required for certification and career growth within ESP roles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 credit hours required; knowledge of working with students with disabilities.
• General Paraeducator Certificate program requirements and district standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small-group instructional support under teacher direction.
• Assist with students’ daily living activities as needed.
• Maintain data on student progress and communicate with teachers and families as assigned.
• Support safety and behavior management according to district guidelines.
