Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator to provide one-on-one support for a Grade 8 student with a disability during school activities and day-to-day needs. The role includes assisting a certificated teacher with instructional tasks and individual student support throughout the day.

The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and participation in district training. Candidates must be prepared to work 6.5 hours per day, 7 hours on campus including a 30-minute

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 college credits, or passing state test requirements.
• Completion of General Paraeducator Certificate program within district timelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with self-care activities and basic daily living tasks.
• Supervise students during meals, bus loading, and field trips.
• Record progress and maintain student data and communications with staff and families.
• Use adaptive equipment and basic sign language as needed; ensure student safety.
