Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a dedicated paraeducator to provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with disabilities. This role involves assisting certificated teachers during instructional and non-instructional activities, and requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate.

The position emphasizes training, safety, and collaboration with staff. It is a part-time, 6.5-hour day role across 183 workdays with benefits offered by the district.

Qualifications

• General Paraeducator Certificate required.
• Associate degree or 72 credit hours and ability to assist in instructional activities.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to train within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction and support as directed by the teacher.
• Assist students with daily living activities and monitor safety during learning activities.
• Maintain data on student progress and communicate with families and staff as needed.
• Assist in classroom management and implement instructional adaptations for students with disabilities.
• Support preparation and execution of lessons and assessments under supervision.
