Job summary

New Story Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to partner with teachers in supporting students 5–21 with autism and behavioral or developmental challenges. You will contribute to individualized learning, guided by therapeutic integration and collaboration, helping students reach meaningful goals.

You will assist with academic tasks, behavior support, and daily living skills, while recording progress and maintaining a safe classroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities (3 months) preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills required.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
