Job summary

New Story Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to work with teachers in supporting students aged 5-21 with autism and behavioral challenges. You will help students meet academic, behavioral, and daily living goals through direct support, patience, and encouragement, under guidance.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, assisting with transitions and personal care, and collecting progress data in a structured classroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
