Job summary

Mounds View Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraeducator to support students in inclusive classroom settings and community sites. The role involves aiding teachers, monitoring student behavior, and assisting with instructional activities across multiple settings.

Responsibilities include implementing daily plans, supervising students during lunch and trips, and providing basic care assistance as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED and one of: AA/AS/AAS; two years of college credits toward a bachelor; or ParaPro/Paraeducator passing score.
• Excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff, students, and community.
• Ability to present information one-on-one and in small groups.
• Ability to work with emotionally, physically and/or mentally impaired students.
• Must be able to lift and assist with daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and support students in classrooms, other learning sites and community settings.
• Monitor, evaluate and record classroom behaviors and discuss expectations with students.
• Meet with teacher to determine appropriate levels of student performance and modifications.
• Assist in implementing daily instructional plans and provide input on student needs.
• Occasionally supervise students in modified learning centers and assist with assignments.
• Assist students with personal care or daily living tasks as needed.
• Supervise students during lunch, hallways and field trips for orderly conduct.
• Administer and grade worksheets, record grades and manage small instructional groups.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss student progress with staff and parents.
• Must be able to lift.
• Other duties as necessary or assigned.
