Job summary

Mounds View Public Schools is seeking a Special Education and Supervisory Paraeducator to support students with diverse needs across classrooms and community settings. The role emphasizes developing self-advocacy and independence while collaborating with teachers and specialists to implement plans.

The position requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to handle behavioural challenges in a supportive environment. Training in CPI may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with one of the listed pathways.
• Ability to interact professionally with staff, students, families.
• Ability to present information clearly in individual or small groups.
• Comfort working with emotionally, physically, or mentally impaired students.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and support students in classrooms, other learning sites and community settings.
• Assist students in developing self-advocacy skills and greater independence.
• Monitor, evaluate and record classroom behaviors and progress.
• Meet with teachers to determine appropriate performance levels and plan modifications.
• Supervise students during lunch, hallways, field trips to ensure orderly conduct.
• Assist with daily instructional plans and preparing classroom materials.
• Provide assistance with personal care tasks as needed and support staff as assigned.
• Refer issues to teachers and administrators and assist with routine clerical tasks.
