Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator for the Functional Core Program to support students with disabilities and learning needs. You will work under a certificated teacher, assisting with instructional and non-instructional activities, health care tasks, and behavior plans as required.

The role includes supervising students in various settings and contributing to a safe learning environment, with duties ranging from classroom prep to direct student support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• One of the following: AA degree, 48 college credits, or pass the paraeducator assessment test.
• Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teacher in meeting IEP goals and maintain records.
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed.
• Keep facilities clean and safe.
• Assist students with personal care such as feeding and toileting.
• Perform medical procedures as directed by a nurse, including catheterization and tube feeding.
• Lift and position medically fragile students as needed.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and activities; assist in bus duties.
• Develop and maintain positive rapport with students and staff.
• Report concerns to supervisor and follow safety protocols.
