Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator (School Aide) for Enterprise Elementary under the functional core program for students with disabilities. The role supports instruction and health care needs, including basic personal care and possible medical procedures, under a certificated teacher's supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEP goals, preparing materials, maintaining safety, supervising students during meals and activities, and collaborating with district staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• AA degree (or equivalent) or 48 college-level credits/72 quarter credits
• Pass the state approved paraeducator assessment test

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals and keep accurate records
• Prepare classroom and materials as directed
• Keep the facilities clean and safe
• Assist students with bathing, toileting, diapering and personal care
• Perform medical procedures as directed by a registered nurse (medication administration, catheterization, suctioning, tube feeding)
• Lift and position medically fragile students as needed
• Support students with behavior plans and de-escalation
• Supervise/assist students at lunch, recess, Adaptive PE, music, library and possibly general ed settings
• Assist students on and off the bus
• Build positive rapport with students and staff
• Report concerns to supervisor promptly
• Maintain safety and security in work routines

Education
