Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to support a 4th grade classroom in a self-contained setting. The role involves instructional support, personal care assistance, and data recording under the supervision of a certificated teacher.

Requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and attendance at district training sessions. Benefits are provided; this position starts ASAP and is part-time (0.8125 FTE) with 6.5 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 college credits required or demonstrated knowledge for paraeducator roles.
• General Paraeducator Certificate required within district program.
• Ability to assist in instructional activities for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs for students with disabilities.
• Provide academic interventions and support activities.
• Follow district guidelines for behavior management and safety.
• Prepare and assist in activities, record progress, and communicate with families as assigned.
