Job summary

Bedford City School District is seeking an Intervention Specialist Long-term Substitute to support students with multiple needs by developing, implementing, and evaluating IEPs. The role reports to the Building Principal and requires a regular/full-time contract within a student support/inclusion context.

Responsibilities include safety, classroom management, differentiated instruction, data-informed planning, IDEA compliance, and active participation in special education meetings.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license, as issued by the Ohio State Department of Education, Office of Teacher Certification and Licensure, pursuant to ORC 3319.22 to 3319.31 or in accordance with standards authorized by law.
• Ability to provide leadership and direction and to work cooperatively with other professional staff.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written or oral form to staff, students, parents, and community members.
• Licensed in P-3 and Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (P-3)

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of students
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
• Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment
• Prepare clear and timely lesson plans that demonstrate differentiation of instruction using research-based practices
• Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear explanations using various instructional techniques
• Use assessment results to inform instructional decisions
• Be an active member of school meetings related to special education
• Keep abreast of current IDEA rules and regulations
• Prepare thorough, well-written IEPs
• Collaborate with colleagues
• Attend parent/teacher conferences
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents
• Notify parents if student is not meeting goals and update gradebook
• Attend meetings and in-services as required
• Observe ethics of the teaching profession per ODE standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee
