Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
• One of: three years as Educational Aide I or II; 30 semester hours with emphasis on child growth and development; completion of an Education Service Center Instructional Aide certification course.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction of the classroom teacher and campus administration.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
• Provide support to individual students inside and outside the classroom so they can participate in activities.
• Collaborate with speech therapists, social workers, and therapists.
• Maintain student records in partnership with classroom teachers.
• Assist ARD/REED processes ensuring timeline requirements are met.
• Coordinate with contracted service providers as needed.
• Monitor student progress and use findings to improve services.
• Prepare and send IEP Report Cards to parents alongside general report cards.
• Plan resources and materials to support students receiving special education services.
• Ensure compliance with state assessments and alternative assessments.
• Support Response to Intervention processes with campus administration.
• Seek guidance as needed from IDEA Coordination supervisor.
• Support disciplinary policies and behavior management strategies for students with disabilities.
• Maintain open communication with parents, students, teachers, and administrators.
• Implement school board policies for Special Education.
• Compile and maintain required reports and documents.
