Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs in California seeks an instructional aide to support K-12 learners with special needs, assisting with IEPs, classroom activities, and supervision in and out of school settings.

You will collaborate with teachers, monitor behavior, document student progress, and help students develop essential skills while maintaining confidentiality and a student-centered approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, basic skills test.
• Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• CA driver's license valid or able to obtain.
• Crisis management training certification required or obtainable.
• Paraprofessional credential preferred.
• Experience with children in alternative or special education settings.
• Comfort with transporting students in a company van.
• Strong oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with MS Office and basic data entry.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
• Implement individualized instruction aligned with each IEP.
• Monitor student behavior and apply school-wide discipline policies.
• Track progress and communicate updates to staff and families.
• Assist in documentation, reports, and behavioral observations.
• Support skill development in academic, social, and community domains.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and data.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate degree or higher in education or related field

Valid CA driver's license

Crisis management training certification

Paraprofessional/teacher aide credential preferred

Experience with children in special education or behavioral health settings

Ability to drive with students in company van

Effective communication and teamwork

Knowledge of MS Office and basic office tech
