Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs, a division of ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, seeks an Instructional Aide to support students in Grades K-12. You will work with teachers to implement IEPs, provide individualized instruction and supervision in classroom and community settings, and help students build essential skills and confidence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; passage of basic skills test.
• Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• Valid CA driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Paraprofessional/teaching assistant credential preferred.
• Experience providing instruction/support to children, esp. in special education or behavioral health.
• Experience with learners with diverse needs incl. learning disabilities and autism.
• Comfortable driving in a company van with students.
• Ability to think quickly and calmly in emergencies.
• Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Knowledge of instructional technology and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
• Deliver individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings.
• Supervise students during lessons and ensure fidelity of instruction.
• Track progress and communicate with teachers about student needs and successes.
• Manage student behavior with consistent, school-aligned disciplinary approaches.
• Support students in developing community, vocational, leisure, academic, and social skills.
• Document student behaviors and performance; provide observations and recommendations.
• Prepare behavioral reports and daily activity logs as needed.
• Communicate with students, families, and staff about progress and concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records at all times.
• Participate in accreditation activities and site performance initiatives.
• Attend school-wide meetings to support collaborative efforts.
• Respond constructively to feedback and pursue professional growth.
• Take on additional duties to support student success.
