Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide to support K-12 students in a Special Education setting. The role focuses on individualized instruction, supervision, and implementing IEP goals in classroom and community settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test.
• Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• CA driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Paraprofessional/teaching assistant credential preferred.
• Experience working with children, especially in special education or behavioral health settings.
• Comfort with transporting students by company van as needed.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of instructional technology and basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
• Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions.
• Monitor and support students during lessons to ensure understanding.
• Track progress and communicate with teachers about student outcomes.
• Manage student behavior in alignment with school policies.
• Mentor students in academic, community, and social skills development.
• Prepare and document behavioral observations and activity logs.
• Assist with preparing detailed behavioral reports and daily logs.
• Communicate with students, families, and staff about student needs and progress.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records at all times.
• Participate in accreditation activities and school meetings.
• Respond constructively to feedback and contribute to team success.
