Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs in California is seeking an Instructional Aide to join our Special Education team, supporting students from Grades K-12 with individualized needs.

You will collaborate with teachers to implement IEP goals, supervise classroom activities, and help students develop academic and life skills in school and community settings, while maintaining confidentiality and a student-centered approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; basic skills test passed.
• Associate degree or higher preferred in education or related field.
• CA driver’s license required or ability to obtain.
• Paraprofessional/paraeducator credential preferred.
• Experience with instruction/support for children, especially in special ed or behavioral health.
• Experience working with students with learning disabilities or autism.
• Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and make quick decisions.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with instructional tech and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
• Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions.
• Monitor students during lessons and ensure instructional fidelity.
• Track progress and communicate with teachers on student needs.
• Manage student behavior in line with school policies.
• Mentor students with academic challenges to build skills.
• Document student behaviors and performance with observations and recommendations.
• Prepare behavioral reports and daily activity logs.
• Communicate with students, families, and staff about goals and concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Participate in accreditation and school meetings to support outcomes.
• Engage in continuous professional development.
