Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the guidance of a Special Education teacher. Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, assisting with daily living skills, and helping with classroom activities and equipment.

The role involves lifting non-ambulatory students, following IEPs, and assisting with field trips and documentation. A para license or completion of required hours is essential.

Qualifications

• Certification as a paraprofessional license from ISBE is required or obtained after 60 college hours or a paraprofessional exam.
• Knowledge of students with various disabilities and ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required.

Responsabilités

• Assist Special Education teachers in reinforcing learning for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist with daily living skills and use of assistive devices and equipment.
• Attend class field trips and help maintain student records and behavior notes.
• Support teachers in preparing and transporting students to activities and clinics.
