Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers and students with disabilities across elementary and high school settings. Under the supervision of a Special Education teacher with a valid certificate, you will reinforce instruction, assist with daily living skills, and accompany students on field trips.

Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, assisting with feeding and mobility, maintaining behavior records, and participating in trainings.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE.
• 60 college credits or paraprofessional exam (Work Keys/Parapro) required.
• CPR training is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under teacher supervision.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and support with daily living skills.
• Assist with feeding, positioning, and mobility tasks when needed.
• Take notes and maintain written records of student behavior.
• Attend class field trips and trainings.
