Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers in elementary and high schools, reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities under an IEP. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, assisting with daily living skills, feeding, positioning equipment, and accompanying students on trips.

Responsibilities also cover maintaining records, notes on student behavior, and helping with personal hygiene and CPR training as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE.
• 60 college credit hours or paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or Parapro).
• Good knowledge of characteristics of students with various disabilities; English grammar and basic math.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities aged birth to 21; follow written and oral instructions; complete basic written reports.

Responsabilités

• Assist in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene services as needed.
• Assist with positioning, equipment, feeding, and daily living skills.
• Record student behavior and maintain written reports.
• Accompany students to class trips and activities; support teacher during activities.
