Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will help implement IEPs, monitor behavior, and assist with instruction.

The role involves adapting activities under teacher guidance, coordinating with teachers and families, and maintaining student records. CPR/First Aid may be required; expect collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or higher.
• Paraeducator qualification via ETS, college credits, or apprenticeship as per PESB.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities under teacher direction to include all students.
• Administers materials and assignments to support progress and organize needs.
• Administers first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Supports students with personal care needs due to medical conditions.
• Attends meetings and professional development to improve job performance.
• Collaborates with teachers and parents to monitor student progress and implement IEPs.
• Directs and implements behavioral plans for students with behavioral disorders.
• Instructs students in activities to reinforce instructional objectives and remediation.
