Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will implement IEP objectives, monitor behavior, and assist in non-classroom times under the teacher's supervision.

You will collaborate with teachers and parents, attend IEP meetings when required, and help adapt materials to student needs while maintaining sensitive information and safety in a diverse learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; multiple pathways to meet paraeducator requirements.
• Experience or coursework with children preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and support IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities under teacher direction to support participation of all students.
• Assist in evaluating student progress and organizing individual needs.
• Provide first aid and basic medical assistance as required.
• Support students with personal care needs to enable participation in learning.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings to stay informed about job functions.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to review student progress and IEP objectives.
• Implement behavioral plans to support student safety and consistent environment.
• Instruct individuals or groups to reinforce instructional objectives and remediation plans.
• Maintain student records and instructional materials for reliable information.
