Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with disabilities in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEPs, monitor behavior, and collaborate with teachers and families.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, administering materials, providing basic medical aid, and attending meetings to support student progress and safety in a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required and any of the listed education options.
• Ability to perform basic math including fractions, percents, and ratios; follow complex instructions.
• Experience or familiarity with instructional procedures and child development helpful.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials under teacher direction to include all special education students.
• Assist in evaluating student progress by administering various materials and assignments.
• Provide first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Support students with personal care needs and behavior management.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings for job knowledge and safety.
• Communicate with teachers and parents about student progress and IEP goals.
• Assist in implementing behavioral plans and ensuring a safe learning environment.
• Instruct students individually or in groups to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Maintain student records and materials for easy access and organization.
• Monitor students in different school settings to support a positive learning atmosphere.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operations.
