Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support middle school students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in instruction, monitor behavior, and attend IEP meetings to align with individual programs.

The role involves adapting lessons, administering materials, and coordinating with teachers and parents to ensure student progress and safety. CPR/First Aid training is encouraged as part of ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of ETS paraeducator assessment or equivalent college credits.
• Experience as a paraeducator and knowledge of IEP goals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to include all special education students.
• Administer tests, homework, and other materials to support progress evaluation.
• Provide first aid and basic medical assistance when needed.
• Assist students with personal care needs to help them function in school.
• Attend meetings and trainings to stay informed on job functions.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to monitor student progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Lead and implement behavioral plans to support students' safety and progress.
• Instruct students in academic subjects, social skills and daily living activities.
• Maintain instructional materials and student records for reliability and accessibility.
• Monitor students across various school environments to maintain a safe learning environment.
