Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist with implementing IEP goals, adapt activities, monitor behavior, and provide personal care as needed to enable students to participate and learn.

Responsibilities include coordinating with teachers and parents, attending meetings, maintaining student records, and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must meet WA PESB paraeducator qualification requirements.
• Ability to adapt instructional activities and materials.
• Experience with students who have medical needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapts activities and materials for participation.
• Administers tests, homework, grades papers, and records.
• Administers first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Assists students needing personal care support due to medical needs.
• Attends meetings and trainings to obtain and share information.
• Confers with teachers and/or parents about student progress.
• Directs and implements behavioral plans for students with needs.
• Instructs students in academics, social, and daily living skills.
• Maintains instructional materials and student files/records.
• Monitors students to ensure safety in various areas.
