Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs, a ChanceLight division, seeks an Instructional Aide II to join a dynamic Special Education team. You will deliver personalized student support for grades K-12, collaborating with teachers to implement IEP/ITP/PBIP-driven strategies and engage students through on-site and community activities.

The role includes hands-on job coaching, progress documentation, and active participation in data collection and functional behavioral assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
• Hold CA Emergency 30 Day Sub Permit within 90 days of starting employment.
• Hold a valid CA driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training certification.
• Minimum 3 years' prior experience providing instruction or support to children, preferably in special education or behavioral health.
• Experience in lesson planning, classroom management and personalized instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement personalized curriculum and behavioral interventions aligned with each student’s IEP/ITP/PBIP.
• Collaborate with supervisors and staff on student progress and adjustments.
• Follow classroom schedule and address individual educational services.
• Document student behaviors and share observations while maintaining confidentiality.
• Participate in data collection and develop assessments and plans.
• Provide job coaching and vocational training on campus and in community settings.
• Support students with physical care needs and ensure dignity and safety.
• Maintain classroom safety and comply with policies and regulations.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed and practice de‑escalation.
• Complete mandatory trainings and contribute to team environment.
• Assist with maintaining clean, organized learning spaces and materials.
• Support transportation of students on Spectrum vehicles when assigned.
