Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a senior mechanical tooling engineer to design and deliver production tooling, fixtures, and test equipment across the Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn programs. You will work with design and manufacturing teams to ensure robust cradle-to-grave solutions, applying GD&T and DFMA principles for cost-effective production.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering and 3+ years of experience with tooling design, CAD modeling, and complex manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent with hands-on tooling design experience.
• Experience designing tooling, fixtures, or production equipment for manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of CAD-based design and tolerancing standards (GD&T).

Responsibilities

• Design production, development, test, integration, and advanced manufacturing tooling for Blue Engines, Lunar, and New Glenn units.
• Collaborate with designers and manufacturing engineers to optimize cradle-to-grave metrics (safety, cost, quality, cycle time, delivery, reliability).
• Apply ASME Y14.5 standards and perform hand calculations/Freebody diagrams as needed.
• Manage projects including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, installation, testing, and commissioning.
