Job summary

NASA Johnson Space Center is seeking a Materials & Processes Engineer to advise on materials selection, process control, corrosion prevention, and electrical bonding for spaceflight hardware. The role involves review of hardware, analyses, hazard reviews, and flight acceptance testing to ensure compliance with M&P requirements.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, with 2+ years of experience in M&P and familiarity with space applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related field.
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials and processes for space applications, including corrosion prevention and electrical bonding.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and provide consultation on Materials & Processes for IVA and EVA environments.
  • Assist in review and development of hardware, analysis, operation, hazard reviews, and flight acceptance testing.
  • Develop verification and validation plans and statements for M&P requirements.
  • Provide input to program specifications and ensure M&P requirements are incorporated at the right level.
  • Review project documentation and drawings to ensure M&P requirements are met for spaceflight hardware.
  • Recommend vendor processes and qualification/acceptance testing to satisfy verification.
