Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Materials & Processes Engineer to join the JETS II contract with ERC, supporting NASA programs. You will advise on M&P requirements for IVA/EVA environments, review drawings and testing plans, and collaborate with vendors to ensure spaceflight hardware meets stringent materials standards.

Ideal candidates bring a bachelor’s in engineering and 2–5 years of related experience, with strong communication and problem-solving skills in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; 2–5 years of related experience
• Knowledge of materials and processes for space applications
• Metallurgy knowledge (aluminum alloys, titanium, stainless steels, nickel-based alloys)

Responsibilities

• Advise on M&P requirements for IVA and EVA environments, including materials selection and corrosion prevention
• Assist with MUAs, MIUL, and oxygen compatibility assessments; review drawings and testing plans
• Provide input to program specifications and ensure M&P requirements are integrated
• Review documentation and ensure M&P compliance for spaceflight hardware
• Suggest changes to vendor processes to meet requirements; provide qualification/acceptance testing recommendations
• Provide inspection/manufacturing process support for human space flight systems
• Other duties as required
