Job summary

Amentum seeks an Aerospace Materials Engineer to provide technical materials engineering support for MSFC programs, including ISS and future lunar/Mars systems. The role covers materials selection, analysis, testing, and documentation to ensure compliance with NASA standards.

Responsibilities include selecting materials, analyzing test data, generating reports, and collaborating with design teams to ensureQuality and safety across manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience in aerospace systems and analysis.
• Proven experience as a Material Engineer or similar role.
• Strong background in materials selection and control.
• Strong knowledge of materials science and engineering principles.
• Experience conducting materials testing and analysis.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials sourcing.
• Degree from ABET-accredited university.

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate materials for different applications in manufacturing and development processes.
• Analyze materials test data under different conditions to evaluate performance and safety.
• Generate detailed reports for material compatibility and compliance with approved processes.
• Work closely with design engineers to ensure materials meet necessary specifications and NASA standards.
• Monitor and improve manufacturing processes to maintain material quality and efficiency.
• Develop materials usage agreements and material usage lists.
• Write material control plans and participate in design reviews.
• Support testbed development, recommend required tests, and report results.
