Job summary

Space Kinetic is seeking a Materials and Processes Engineer to serve as a core technical authority for spacecraft mechanisms and flight hardware. You will partner with design, manufacturing, quality, and test teams to ensure materials, surface treatments, and processes meet launch and space environment requirements.

Qualifications

  • Broad aerospace materials experience including metallics and composites.
  • Hands-on experience investigating manufacturing anomalies and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting hardware through qualification or production.

Responsibilities

  • Guide designers on material selection, surface treatments, and space-environment risks.
  • Author and approve drawings, material specs, and process procedures for aerospace standards.
  • Plan and execute qualification programs for metallics, composites, coatings, paints, adhesives, lubricants.
  • Coordinate with labs and vendors to characterize materials and document results.
  • Support PDR/CDR/MRR with M&P risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Manage M&P verification and ensure approval before flight hardware assembly.
  • Develop dispositions for non-conformances identified during manufacturing, assembly, testing.
  • Lead destructive and non-destructive failure investigations and implement corrective actions.
