Ingersoll Rand Inc. in Frederica, Delaware, seeks a Project Engineer to coordinate EVA spacesuit hardware programs, leading cross-functional teams across design, build, test, and production.

You’ll drive schedules, manage risks, and ensure adherence to NASA requirements throughout the hardware lifecycle. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, perform RCA/CAPA when issues arise, and maintain timely communications with program managers and NASA

Qualifications

  • Must be able to access shared government program databases (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or product development environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and ICDs.
  • Interest in project management (PMP or CAPM a plus).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of project management methodologies and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively in team environments.
  • Experience with hardware development lifecycle including design, build, test, and qualification phases.
  • Experience supporting or participating in hardware failure investigations, RCA, and CAPA.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate EVA spacesuit hardware projects from design release through production, integration, and delivery.
  • Liaise between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain on priorities, requirements and schedules.
  • Support spacesuit assembly and integration activities at the Frederica site for build, test, and delivery readiness.
  • Ensure fabrication and production stay on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Gather and manage technical, manufacturing, and program data to support requirements and production execution.
  • Lead hardware failure investigations; drive RCA and CAPA across engineering and factory operations.
  • Communicate risks, issues, and impacts to cost/schedule/technical performance with program managers.
  • Interface with NASA customers to report status and progress through reviews and meetings.
  • Support integration, test, and verification activities for EVA hardware per NASA requirements.
  • Assist with transition of hardware from development into production and maintain configuration control.
  • Support planning across proposal, contract execution, and program lifecycle phases for EVA spacesuit programs.
