Job summary

Rocket Lab in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the Space Systems Division in producing flight mechanisms for separation systems. This on-site internship offers hands-on engineering experience with mentors and a fast-paced team.

You must be enrolled in an engineering/physics/math program with at least one semester left, a GPA of 3.0+, and 3+ months of applied engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics or math discipline with at least one semester remaining.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, or personal/team project).
• Able to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support the Space Systems Division in producing flight mechanisms for Separation Systems.
• Apply engineering concepts under mentor guidance and collaborate across teams.
• Attend frequent 1:1s with mentors and supervisors to track progress.
• Engage in tech talks and networking events with interns and staff.
