Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for our site in Silver Spring, Maryland. You will support the Space Systems Division in producing flight mechanisms for separation systems and gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an engineering, physics, or math program with at least one semester remaining. The role is full-time on-site for a minimum of 12 weeks starting early in 2027, with a base pay of $25 per hour and relocation

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree program in engineering, physics or math with at least one semester remaining post internship.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable).
• 6+ months of applied engineering experience and GPA 3.5+ would be a plus (nice to have).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Siemens NX; experience with CAD/CAM; knowledge of GD&T; Python experience.

• Work closely with a mentor and department to apply your knowledge and grow technically and professionally.
• Collaborate with a fast-paced group to apply engineering concepts to real challenges.
• Attend frequent 1:1s with mentors to discuss progress and learning.
• Participate in tech talks and network with interns and employees.
