Job summary

Vast Space Llc. is seeking a Test Engineer to support Haven-1 space station development at our Long Beach, CA site. You will lead testing of primary and secondary structural systems, mentor teammates, and drive test campaigns with cross-functional teams to meet stringent aerospace standards.

The role emphasizes test planning, instrumentation, and documentation, with opportunities to influence cost-saving, safety, and quality initiatives in a fast-paced spaceflight environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in an engineering environment (test, launch, manufacturing, etc.).
• Experience with environmental testing and instrumentation.
• Experience implementing test plans and procedures in collaboration with design engineers.
• Knowledge of PID, P&ID, and instrumentation schemes.
• Familiarity with high-pressure gas systems and hazardous environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute testing on Haven-1 primary and secondary structures.
• Mentor engineers and technicians on the team.
• Enforce and improve test processes and best practices.
• Produce professional, traceable documentation for test systems.
• Design, prepare and execute test campaigns and test stands.
• Perform design, analysis, and project management tasks.
• Contribute to design reviews (TRR, PDR, CDR).
• Analyze test failures and drive root-cause investigations.
• Work with multiple engineering groups to define requirements and implement solutions.
• Navigate changing priorities across projects.
