Job summary

Vast Space Llc. in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Structures to design and test primary and secondary structures for the Haven station family. You will analyze static/dynamic loads, vibration and thermal environments, and release manufacturing drawings and test plans.

The role requires a B.S. in a related field and 2+ years of design experience with 3D CAD and FEA; NX/Teamcenter experience is preferred, along with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering, physics or related technical field.
• 2+ years designing mechanical components or systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and FEA software.
• Experience implementing and analyzing GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of primary and secondary structures for a large-scale space station.
• Apply loads, vibration, thermal analyses to drive design decisions.
• Release drawings, test plans and concepts of operations for hardware.
• Lead trade studies and manage interfaces and I/O documents.
• Verify requirements via test, analysis, inspection or demonstration.
