Job summary

SOLV Energy in Morristown, Indiana is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) to perform field maintenance and learn safe work practices in the solar industry. This full-time role begins as a contingent position with potential to transition to permanent.

You will service solar equipment across plants under supervision, perform basic testing and troubleshooting, and document work performed. A high school diploma or GED and basic electrical knowledge are required, with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; vocational/technical training a plus.
• Experience in mechanical/electrical environments from training or previous work.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform Lock Out/Tag Out on energized parts.
• Basic knowledge of solar installation/plant.
• Basic knowledge of testing equipment.
• Basic computer operation skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• NFPA 70e Safety Training certification; keep trainings current.
• Strong English communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work at remote locations in extreme weather.
• On-call availability; weekends or after-hours.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicle.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for training/site coverage.

Responsibilities

• Operate and care for company equipment and tooling.
• Service solar equipment in multiple plants under supervision.
• Perform basic testing, troubleshooting and maintenance under supervision.
• Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision.
• Respond on-call as directed for emergency repairs.
• Prepare accurate documentation and required reports of work performed.
• Collaborate on process improvements and coordinate with EPC management.
