Job summary

Knobelsdorff Enterprises seeks a Solar Estimator to evaluate project data, review designs, and craft detailed proposals for photovoltaic installations across the US. You will solicit quotes, manage vendor pricing, and establish costs for 1MW to 50+MW projects, coordinating with internal teams to deliver accurate bids.

The role requires 2–5 years in estimating, experience with Heavy Bid and solar projects, and the ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of prior estimating experience, or a combination of education, estimating, and field experience.
• Heavy Bid experience (estimating software); Solar experience preferred.
• Background in general estimating, solar, construction management, or project management.
• Ability to work on multiple projects, tight deadlines and under pressure.
• Estimating software experience preferred (Heavy Bid, Accubid, B2W).
• Knowledge of scheduling principles and software (MS Project or P6) preferred.
• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Proactively review bid packages and help develop high-quality pricing and proposals.
• Develop comprehensive bid packages for submittal to clients.
• Develop and manage RFPs for packages and solicit proposals from vendors.
• Direct customer interface throughout bidding and design process.
• Work with teams to solicit pricing and provide a complete bid package with ownership through bidding.
• Request pricing for bonds, sales tax, insurance, prevailing wage, etc.
• Review historical data and lessons learned to refine pricing models.
• Develop complete solar and battery storage estimates from 1MW to 50+MW.
• Estimate self-perform labor and equipment costs for proposals.
• Prepare and present bid proposals for client clarification.
• Understand scope, schedule, and cost to build conforming bid.
• Write and define detailed project scope for proposals.
• Maintain solar estimating database of pricing and assemblies.
• Provide technical assistance interpreting drawings and specifying materials.
• Identify project risks and mitigation strategies.
• Provide hand-off packages to preconstruction and construction teams.
