Job summary

RK&K Southeast region seeks a SOI-qualified architectural historian for a permanent, full-time role in Georgia or South Carolina. The Principal Investigator will lead historic surveys, context studies, and coordinating with engineers and environmental planners. Travel out of state is required.

The candidate will supervise field staff, develop proposals, and advise on Section 106 compliance, NEPA, and 4(f) evaluations, contributing to business development across SC/GA.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural History or related field
• 8–15 years of architectural experience in SC/GA
• 5+ years of architectural project management experience
• SOI-qualification in architectural history and/or history
• Expertise with Section 106 consultation
• Understanding of NEPA and Section 4(f)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong research, technical writing, and communication skills
• Fluent with Microsoft Office
• Experience on South Carolina or Georgia DOT projects
• Ability to pass a background check

Responsibilities

• Complete historic architectural surveys and context studies in SC/GA
• Proposal development
• Supervise field staff and QA/QC review of reports
• Advise RK&K engineers and clients on Section 106 compliance
• Draft Section 106 agreement documents
• Contribute to NEPA documents and 4(f) evaluations
• Assist with business development and client outreach across SC/GA
