Job summary

RK&K is seeking an SOI-qualified archaeological Principal Investigator for the Southeast. This permanent, full-time role is based in South Carolina or Georgia offices, leading field teams and overseeing artifact analysis.

The ideal candidate has an SOI qualification in archaeology, an RPA, 8–15 years of Southeast experience, 5+ years of project management, and expertise in Section 106 NHPA, NEPA, and DOT reviews. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field
• 8–15 years of archaeological experience in the Southeast
• 5+ years of field project management experience
• SOI qualification in archaeology
• RPA certification
• Experience with precontact and historic-period archaeology
• Section 106 NHPA consultation expertise
• Knowledge of NEPA and Section 4(f)
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience on SC/GA DOT projects
• Ability to pass a background check
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• ArcGIS experience (preferred)
• ArcGIS experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of archaeological investigations in the Southeast
• Oversee artifact analysis and QA/QC of technical reports
• Prepare Section 106 documentation and negotiate NHPA compliance
• Contribute to NEPA documents and Section 4(f evaluations
• Develop proposals and assist in business development
• Supervise field crews and field staff
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, and clients
• Travel may be required
